Too Long Since I've Tortured Remy

Hey, look! Brenda found a ridiculous hat. And what do we do in the Blackwell household when we find a ridiculous hat? That's right, we put it on Remy!

Yay!

Thankfully, She Loves Me Anyway

Remember when Remy got dressed up in Royals gear? Or when she was put in a hat? (I know, you're asking, "Which time?" right now.) It seems that many of the times the shenanigans of torturing Remy occur, Brenda is around. This past weekend was no exception. This time we decided that Remy should join in on the mustache fun.

She was not pleased... can you imagine? But she did get a lot of treats for her trouble. Here are the fruits of our labor! (You can see Dany in the background of some of these photos. As you can tell, she had nothing to do with this.)

I can't tell you how much I love this dog. I'm sure Caesar Milan would totally disapprove.

Flashback to the 1980s

My birthday was last Saturday and I planned an 80s party for it. I put up a bunch of 80s movie posters that I printed from my computer and threw in some 80s bands for good measure. I went to Party America and found bottle caps and pixie stix and garbage pail kids (they seemed less gross than they used to) and candy necklaces and pop rocks and razzles. "Don't swallow it, just have faith, it will turn into gum!"

I wrote a big "NEW" on the 2 liter bottle of Coke and crossed out classic. I had a mix of 200 songs from the 80s. We didn't get through all of them even though we were up until 5am.

And I got people to dress the part. The best part was, everyone was totally into it and seemed to have a great time. The saddest part was that lots of us got parts of our outfits from Target and Walmart. Why is this fashion coming back?

Me and my coworkers!

Tanya won the "bring an 80s picture of yourself photo contest that has no prize" with a photo of her from a lipsynching contest in the mall when she was in high school. I will never know anyone cooler than this woman.

Troy's holding a tennis racket, in case you can't tell. I love his hair but he refuses to wear it like this in public.

This man is a rock god. You can tell by his Hannah Montana temporary tattoo.

Can you believe she got her entire outfit in Target?

It's Watts from Some Kind of Wonderful!

We helped Beth graffiti her jacket. This thing is totally rad.

Win, Lose or Draw.

Inspiration: Flashdance and Madonna. That's right, I found white lace fingerless gloves.

Is that Jennifer Beals hugging Robin Sparkles??

They got the beat.

Magnum, PI sits between adoring fans.

I bet this picture looks like ones you have from the 80s... minus that computer and printer in the background.

Remy dressed like Spuds McKenzie and drank Bud Light all night. She even attracts the ladies like him.

Until she became a rockstar and went on tour with Slash.

We ate pop rocks and coke, played Win, Lose, or Draw, put on a couple movies like Ghostbusters, Dirty Dancing, and Some Kind of Wonderful (after all, Watts - aka Brenda - was in that movie), and ended the night with Guitar Hero... or RockBand, I don't remember.

It was probably one of the best birthdays of recent memory, even if it snowed five inches the night before and I had to shovel my giant driveway so that all my people had somewhere to park.

I'm very happy for all my people. Thank you all for making it such a great night.

Remy in a Hat... Kinda

Brenda told me about this contest that the Royals are doing where you're supposed to dress your pet in Royals gear and take a picture. I'm not really sure what you win, or if the contest is even still going on, but last weekend while she was visiting, she brought me some Royals gear that Remy would fit into. So, of course I put her in it.

Even Remy's Ducky is a Royals fan.

I'm saying, "Go Royals!" is this photo. Remy is licking my face. You can tell she's really happy in her shiny Royals jacket.

I understand why people dress up their pets. It's hilarious. But, only for five minutes... then it's just plain cruel.

A Float Trip Photo Essay

The following is a brief photo essay of the series of events that occurred on July 5th, 2008.

I went with friends on a float trip to Steelville, MO to take a lazy 7 mile ride down the Meramec River. Remy came, too. She liked the water but was not a big fan of actual swimming. When she realized that she was taller when she stood and wouldn't have to swim, things went downhill. She realized that she was super smart and decided to foil my plan to have her wear everyone's floatin' hat by keeping me supplied with beer.

There's a beer around my neck. Remy gave it to me.

Oh, look, a beer in my hand. In fact, it's PBR (Procured By Remy) for Nikki.

Remy slips me another.

I quickly went from super happy...

To this. No, I can't get up, thanks. It's Remy's fault.

Look what Remy did to me.
Did you get a picture of her in your hat yet?

I wish I could tell you we were looking at fish in the water, not revisiting the sandwich I had for lunch.

And, that is why I have no pictures of Remy in everyone's float trip hats. She is smarter than I am... and I'm not sure who had a better time because I think we both had a blast.

Possibly more to come later.

Stop Animal Cruelty

Remy's had it with the hat wearing bullshit. She put her foot down. But, as it turns out, I'm relentless... I had help... and quite frankly, I'm more than twice Remy's size. Here is photo documentation of the latest "Remy in a Hat" photo shoot. I got it for free at the baseball game on Sunday. Enjoy!

The hat is currently on the floor.
Stop moving!

"I hate you."

So. Much. Hate.
"Did you drop food? I smell food."
"Le sigh."
"I give up."

"Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. I still hatechoo, though."

And thus concludes the toughest time I've had putting Remy in a hat. Look forward to float trip pictures - everyone's required to have a "floatin' hat" and I'm going to try to get Remy in all of them! (Like it or not.)

Because It's Been Too Long

I present to you, Remy in a hat.

She's tired because she's a hard workin' country dog. You can tell. From the hat.

Superbowl XLII Campions

Oh man, I thought I was going to have a heart attack several times during this game. Everyone thought it would be high scoring. Everyone thought the Giants would lose. Well, everyone was really wrong.

But there were lots of times that Remy just couldn't watch. It was too stressful. She had to pull her hat down over her eyes.

Like, the whole fourth quarter.

I mostly screamed, "Eli! Throw the ball!" And I was so happy that Plaxico got that touchdown pass. He totally deserved to score.

And we won! Today was an awesome day. The only thing that's gone wrong in February so far was that damn groundhog seeing his shadow. Let's hope I feel the same after the Super Tuesday elections.

Hoorah!
